If you ever catch yourself wanting to take a quick girl’s road trip and stay at a fun hotel we recommend Madonna Inn! This hotel is so bonkers and funky it’s amazing. We decided to take a quick road trip from Huntington Beach to San Luis Obispo for the weekend and it was the best trip to catch up while listening to tunes in the car, stop at all our favorite fast food joints and lay out on the beach at Pismo Beach. We specifically wanted to stay at Madonna Inn because we’ve heard so much about this place and wanted to experience staying in one of it’s rooms. Each room is quite different from the rest and the one we stayed at seemed to be a scene out of “Under the Sea” from Little Mermaid. It was so much fun as it’s a mix of medieval times meet Alice in Wonderland.
The road trip from Huntington Beach to San Luis Obispo was roughly 4 hours. The fastest way for us to get there was the I-405 N and then merge onto CA-19. Madonna Inn is right off the freeway and the people there are quite friendly. Some of their more famous rooms are called the Bridal Falls, Country Gentlemen, Fox & Hound and Harvard Square. We suggest having brunch at their main restaurant Gold Rush Steakhouse. The pink decor is just so outlandish, it’s amazing. Unfortunately we got to the inn at midnight, therefore couldn’t eat there but got a tour of this pink and brilliant restaurant.
The drive to downtown was only 15 minutes and there’s a lot of fun shopping to do in the main area. Our favorite lunch place was called Urban Cafe, which had the best salads. We went there a couple times during our stay that weekend. If you have a sweet tooth, you must stop by Batch for their ice cream cookie! Our favorite was the sugar cookie with coffee ice cream!
When we weren’t shopping we wanted to hang out at the beach. Unfortunately the tide was pretty high but we were still able to get a tan and walk the beach. When wanting to be covered up, we loved sporting tanks from Owl Clothing. It was the perfect cover up! They have the perfect selection on tanks to work out in, lounge, go shopping or to just wear for the weekend.
It was a great weekend and we suggest making your reservations in advance because rooms book up at the Madonna Inn!
