Have you ever been waiting patiently in the airport only to find out that your flight has been delayed? Ugh! It’s the worst! The only thing worse than having your flight delayed is having your flight delayed for hours…and hours…and hours. And the only thing worse than that is being stranded in a small airport…with no foodcourt…and you’re STARVING! The rumbles and grumbles of your belly are growing louder and you are well on your way to becoming “hangry”. You need food and you need it now!
So let’s run through our options…there might be a vending machine with fatty candies or stale Pop Tarts, but who knows how long ago those were stocked, and who wants to eat pure sugar for lunch/dinner? Not us! Thats why we recommend planning ahead and packing travel snacks when you’re on the go. We were introduced to Big Slice Pure Kettle Cooked Apples and I think it’s safe to say that stale vending machine food and irritable hangry remarks are now a thing of our past.
This snack comes in a small pouch that’s about 15cm tall (thats just under 6 inches for us Americans out there). We love that the food is in a little pouch that fits in any suitcase or carry on, and better yet, not only is this snack healthy but it also tastes delicious!! There are 16 different flavors to chose from so I’m sure there is something for every taste pallet out there. We really enjoyed the natural flavor, it is so refreshing and has a similar taste as applesauce but it has more substance to it. If you have a little bit of a sweet tooth we also recommend the cinnamon french toast flavor (yep you read that right.. cinnamon french toast!).
What also makes us big fans of the Big Slice company is the fact that when you buy Big Slice pouches, they donate a portion of the purchase to the Sparkle charity. A charity that helps a number of important organizations that provide women and young girls help through various hardships. A healthy treat that tastes good, and you’re helping a sista out…it’s a win win situation!
You can pick these pouches up at any Target, Costco, Sprouts, Whole Foods, or a number of other supermarkets. You can even order through Amazon and have them delivered to your front door. So add these to the grocery list and don’t leave home without them!
